AK31 Family software - Relay Test Equipment

The equipment

The AK31 family of equipment is now available in the new Amperis catalog. They are rugged, lightweight and high quality relay test equipment. In the manufacture of these equipments has been used the most advanced technology both in development and quality control, resulting in flexible, accurate, portable and reliable equipment. They are a universal solution to test all generations and types of protection relays.
Amperis provides relay testing equipment under the international standard IEC61850 which describes communication between devices within substations (relay test equipment incorporates communication protocols and IEC61850 configuration modes). In this standard, the traditional method of triggering a switch is replaced by a contact via a GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented Substation Events) message sent over Ethernet or fiber optic cables. The GOOSE messages are actually binary status signals in the substation network and are used inter alia for triggering the protection relays of the substations.

The software

The software that comes with these equipments has a renewed interface, simple and intuitive for the user, that offers powerful functions to carry out manual tests controlled by PC of all the types of protection relays.
The great advantage that has in common the modules that are detailed below included in the software is the automatic generation of reports. Each module provides a formatted test report. The reports are presented in table or graph form depending on the software module that generated the reports.
If multiple modules are used to perform a test, each module provides its specific reports to the overall report. This final report can be customized and can be printed, saved or exported in a simple way. In addition, the recorded data will always be available (included or not in the report) and the defined settings are generated quickly.

The test modules

1.AC & DC test:

This module allows to generate different values of voltage and current through the output channels in a direct way, for testing different types of relays. It allows simultaneous control of all available test signals (voltage and current) of the equipment test in magnitude, phase and frequency, fault calculation with different modes, steady state function, steps or ramp for all magnitudes, synchronism measurements and vector diagram.

2.Ramping Test:

This module allows to generate different ramps in the output variables, as well as the conditions (or triggers) that activate them. Min. and max. of the starting currents, power, direction ... and it is possible to define tolerance ranges for the final result, as well as complex time calculations.

The Ramping module determines limit values and generates ramps of amplitude, phase or frequency for the outputs of voltage and current. Automated tests can be performed with ramps, which allow simply and complex functions to be tested and even 2 simultaneous synchronized ramps of different variables.

3. Overcurrent Test:

This module is a specific module to quickly and easily test directional overcurrent relay curves with automatic evaluation of the tripping time characteristic. Due to the flexible definition of directional limits, it is also suitable for testing the steady-state ground fault relay characteristic.
The software superimposes the characteristics of each of the elements in the I / t diagram and the directional diagram and includes all the elements that react to the type of fault applied.

4. State Sequence:

This module allows to define different states for tests of complex logic with relays, especially indicated for test like multiple auto re-closing. There are 8 controllable test states to be used for the purpose of the operator.
In the choice of binary inputs, two options are presented: "Logic OR" indicates that the logic is activated when some of the selected inputs are activated; or "Logic AND", which requires all selected binary signals to be active.

5. Protection of distance:

This module allows you to calibrate the fixed parameters of the distance relays and make an analysis of the sensitivity and reliability of the action of each section of the distance protection.
Allows you to define and test distance relays using impedance evaluations using single-shot definitions in the Z plane.
Parameterization consists of three parts: configuration of parameters in the RIO file, configuration of the test, configuration of the inputs and binary outputs.

6.Differential Rate Protection:

This module is a compact differential protection relay test solution. It allows to test the reverse braking feature automatically, of a digital transformer, generator and electromotor.
Performs single-phase testing of the operating characteristic and the lock function. This software module also tests the harmonic constraint function.

7.Reclose test:

This module is primarily used for distance, zero sequence and other line protection features simulating a wide variety of single phase, biphasic and three phase systems, including transient and permanent failures for whole group testing.
With the "recloser" function, line, distance or overcurrent relays can be tested. With the integrated Fault Calculation function, it calculates the output voltages and currents for the different types of fault. The test sequence is displayed as a function of time and a list of events with their evaluations is presented.

8.Synchronizer test:

This module is mainly used to test the action in voltage and frequency, angle, time, V / F pulse control, auto synchronization devices ... Simulates 2 systems to be synchronized, one represents the network (fixed amplitude and frequency) and the other represents the generator or system q to be synchronized (variable amplitude and frequency). A built-in synchronoscope shows the voltage vector of the system to be synchronized with respect to the timing of synchronization.

9.Fault Recurrence (COMTRADE Transient Analysis):

This module is used for the reproduction of standard COMTRADE (Common Format for Transient Data Exchange) format files through the outputs of the equipment. This module allows:
• Support of files in COMTRADE format.
• Current and voltage settings for each channel.
• Improves original sampling by reproducing by interpolating the original data.
• Trips or triggers by GPS or keyboard.
• Multiple repetition of part of the data.
• You can generate the data of a new channel from operations with the data of the others.
• You can set the playback output range.

10.Time Characteristic:

This test module contains test items v / t, f / tyv / ft, to test the voltage action of the voltage relay time characteristic to test the frequency action of the frequency relay time characteristic y to test overexcitation, respectively.

SPECIAL MODULES (They are optional and are purchased separately):

11. Power Swing: This module uses a two-machine system model for power fluctuation simulations, mainly to test generators outside the protection range, cutters, distress relay assignments ... In test mode, the user can change the binary inputs and outputs, changing the fault condition.

12.Frequency Test: This module is mainly used for frequency protections, low voltage load disconnects, low current load disconnects...

13.Standard Meter - Multifunction meter: This optional module acts as a multifunction meter and allows you to collect current and voltage input values and display them on the screen. Current, voltage, phase and frequency are displayed in real time.

14.Recorder - Transient Recorder: This optional module acts as a recorder before and during the fault, for various changing electrical conditions. It is used to analyze the causes of a certain electrical problem and the performance of the protection devices.

15.Energy Meter Calibration: This optional module (purchased separately) allows calibration of electronic or electromechanical energy meters. Once the parameters of a meter have been configured, they can be stored for later use. The objectives to be met by the meter can be edited and selected.

16.Transmitter Calibration: This optional module (purchased separately) can calibrate standard and multifunction power transducers, three-phase and single-phase.
