BAC

Portable and universal battery charger

Recharging stationary lead-acid, Ni-Cd and Li-ion banks without disconnecting the installation.

Two regulated charging modes

The IU mode charges at constant current and finishes at constant voltage: when the current falls to the predefined minimum, the unit cuts off or switches to float. The UU mode holds a constant voltage with a current limit. Both speed up the recharge and lower the overcharge risk on strings from 1 to 300 V DC.

Backing up the main charger

There is no need to switch off the installation's rectifier: the charger connects alongside it to shorten the recharge or to restore a bank after a discharge test, and the series offers the best power-to-weight ratio in its class with 2.7 kW in 10 kg.

Main features

  • Two models: BAC25A (up to 300 V) and BAC50L (up to 50 A).
  • Measurement resolution of 0.1 A and 0.1 V.
  • Adjustable alarms and shutdown against excessive charge.
  • Thermal, overcurrent and over/undervoltage protections.
  • PT100 probe for ambient temperature.
  • Terminals for external overand undervoltage alarm.
  • USB PC interface and informative LCD display.

Applications and handling

Applications

  • Standby batteries in power plants and substations.
  • Generator excitation systems.
  • Protection and control systems at 110 or 220 V DC.
  • UPS battery strings.
  • Fast recharge after discharge tests.

Control panel and connection

The LCD display shows voltage, current and status throughout the charge, and the keyboard adjusts current, time and alarm levels in real time. Connection is made with two current cables; the voltage sense cables are optional and refine the measurement at the terminal.

Protection both ways

The thermal, overcurrent, overvoltage and undervoltage protections look after the battery and the instrument itself, and two dedicated terminals fire an external alarm if the bank voltage leaves the defined limits.
