Image: BLU-C catalogue cover, battery dischargers: battery load unit and capacity tester for banks up to 800 V DC with total discharge down to 0 V.

Capacity measurement of stationary batteries per IEEE 450, IEEE 1188, IEEE 1106 and IEC 60896.

Nine models up to 800 V

From the BLU100C to the BLU800C, the series discharges lead-acid, Li-ion, Ni-Cd or other chemistry strings with up to 300 A and 42.0 kW. The test is followed in real time on the 7-inch touch screen, with voltage and capacity graphs, and resumes by itself after a mains interruption.

Four modes plus load profiles

Constant current, power, resistance or voltage, plus programmable profiles that reproduce real duty cycles. With the current probe, the bank is tested without taking it out of service while the total current or power is kept constant.

Main features

  • Optional total discharge down to 0 V; with the ZVD module, at constant current up to 60 or 120 A.
  • Parallel operation of up to 10 identical units (from the BLU300C).
  • Cell supervision with CVM/CVM-4 modules (from the BLU300C).
  • Current adjustable with 0.1 A resolution.
  • External BXL loads to extend the capacity.
  • Adjustable alarms and shutdown against excessive discharge.
  • Internal memory with USB download; optional Ethernet and RS232.

Applications and software

Applications

  • Power plants and substations.
  • Telecommunication systems and data centres.
  • Generator excitation systems.
  • Protection and control systems.
  • Complete discharge of banks before recycling.

PC software for control and analysis

The included PC software controls and observes the test over USB, presents the key parameters numerically and graphically, accepts extra alarms on cell voltage or capacity and builds reports in Excel, PDF or Word with image import.

A complete discharge system

The cell modules connected to the unit show cell and intercell voltages on screen, the handheld voltage recorder complements the measurement with temperature and density via Bluetooth, and the ZVD module finishes the total discharge by short-circuiting the remaining energy.
