Handheld circuit breaker analyzer and timer

Timing, synchronism and coil currents on breakers with one break per phase.

Product overview

Two complementary handheld devices

The handheld series comprises the CAT-P (1.4 kg) and the CAT-H (1.6 kg). Both time the main contacts with one break per phase, record the opening and closing coil currents, the substation battery voltage and the auxiliary contacts, and measure the resistance of the pre-insertion resistors.

Each with its own speciality

The CAT-H integrates coil control to operate the breaker from the device itself; the CAT-P offers it through an external module and adds the online first trip test based on the CTs' secondary currents.

Main features

  • Internal Li-ion battery for 8 hours of testing (user replaceable on the CAT-P).
  • 5.7-inch colour touch screen readable in full sunlight.
  • Overlay of up to 4 graphical records to compare operations.
  • Internal memory for over 30,000 results.
  • O, C, CO, O-C, C-O and O-C-O operations with delay or contact-position sensing.
  • Direct download to USB memory and PC communication.
  • IP40 protection rating in 310 × 170 × 58 mm.

Applications and software

Applications

  • LV, MV and HV breakers with one break per phase.
  • First trip test with the installation in service (CAT-P).
  • Verification of control circuit wiring.
  • Pole synchronisation and bounce times.
  • Maintenance contractors and industrial environments.

PC software for control and analysis

The included PC software downloads the tests over Bluetooth or USB, presents the curves with cursors and zoom, overlays several records for comparison, converts units automatically and exports the results for reports.

Measurement triggers for every case

Recording can start from the coil control channel, from the DC current clamp or from the DC voltage channel, depending on whether the operation is initiated from the control room, a local switch or the test device itself.
