How to discharge a battery

In this video we show the easy operation of the Amperis Battery Discharger. The unit is very compact and includes a handle and 4 wheels so that it can be moved around comfortably. These units carry out a controlled discharge of the battery keeping the current constant by means of a high-frequency converter. The operation is completely automatic: it is enough to connect the battery and set the cut-off voltage, the maximum time and the discharge current.

We are going to carry out an example of how to perform the discharge:

  1. First of all we make sure that we do not have any computer connected, neither to the RS-232 port nor to the USB.
  2. Secondly, we would connect the cables to the battery and switch on the discharger.
  3. As soon as it is switched on, the unit indicates the battery voltage and then the cut-off voltage.
  • Using the plus and minus keys we can adjust that value.
  • Once the cut-off voltage has been selected, we confirm with the SET key.
  • Now we set the maximum time for the test (we select, for example, 8 hours) and confirm as before with the SET key.
  • The unit is now ready to carry out the discharge.
  1. To start the discharge we must set the 2 potentiometers to zero; to do so we turn both knobs to the left.
  2. To start the process we press the plus and minus keys simultaneously.
  3. From now on we adjust the 2 potentiometers to set the current to the value we want (in this case, as there is no battery connected, since this is an explanatory video, the test is going to end immediately).

During the test we can view all the parameters in real time, such as the battery voltage, the programmed cut-off voltage, the time, the discharged capacity and the current

The test ends automatically, when the battery reaches the cut-off voltage or the time reaches the maximum test time.

The unit is an automatic battery analyser and discharger designed to test the efficiency of industrial batteries of any type, voltage and capacity.

The Discharger is very easy to use and does not require any specific training. Programming the tests takes less than two minutes and the operation is completely automatic.
