What the AMPI-540 measures, how it is connected for installation tests and for power quality recording, and what its touch screen adds. Verifying an installation proves it is safe. Recording its supply shows how it behaves under load. The AMPI-540 does both with one instrument. Every shock protection test and a three-phase class S recorder. class S recorder to IEC 61000-4-30. A 7-inch touch screen. Fault loop with a resolution of one thousandth of an ohm.

And RCDs of six types, including those for electric vehicle chargers. On top, three clamp inputs, three color coded test sockets, the recorder's in socket and the ES socket. The touch screen replaces the rotary switch and start runs the test. It comes with a mains plug lead, three flexible current clamps, test leads, reels and earth rods, a micro SD card, the battery with its charger, the battery with its charger, and the stylus. Light probes, and a multi-core cable adapter are options.

Against the AMPI-530, the 540 adds a three-phase class S recorder, a touch screen, finer loop resolution, more RCD types, a memory card, and Wi-Fi. For the LPE loop, the meter's PE lead goes to the exposed conductive part, and its L lead to the phase. For the LN loop, the N lead goes to the neutral instead of PE, and between two phases, L and N go to the two phases. The short circuit current is checked against the fuse you select, and behind an RCD the loop is measured without tripping.

Voltage drop, phase sequence, motor rotation, light, and IT networks are covered too. RCDs are tested downstream of the device PE to the protective conductor, N to the neutral, and L to the phase, or the mains plug lead in the phase. The meter measures tripping time and current, and touch voltage and earth resistance without tripping. In auto mode, one press of start runs the whole series. Tripping time and current, touch voltage and earth resistance,

and for vehicle chargers, the 6 milliamp DC detection. Auto mode runs the whole series with one press of start. Insulation is measured with the circuit dead and the loads disconnected. The RISO- lead goes to one conductor. The RISO+ lead to the other, and the far end stays open. Protective conductors are checked with 200 milliamps in both directions. Zero the leads first. Then one lead on the main earthing terminal, the other on the exposed part.

The test starts by itself. earth resistance, open the test link. E goes to the electrode, S to the voltage probe, and H to the current probe, all in one line. Interference above 24 volts blocks the test. class S recorder logs voltages up to 500 volts, currents up to 3 kiloamps with flexible clamps, powers, harmonics up to the 40th, unbalance, and events on the microSD card.

a 4-wire 3-phase network, the black lead goes from the end socket to the neutral, and the red, yellow, and blue leads to L1, L2, and L3. Then one clamp per phase, in I1, I2, and I3, with the arrows towards the load. Before and during the recording, the live view shows waveforms, time plots, the phaser diagram, and the harmonics. So, a wrong lead or a reversed clamp is seen on site. The energy cost calculator estimates savings from the recorded data. Results go into a memory tree on the microSD card, with a voice note or a photo if

needed, and transfer over USB, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi to the PC software for the report. Measuring Category 4 at 300 volts, an IP51 housing, 0 to 45 degrees, and a lithium-ion battery of 11.1 volts. Verification of domestic and industrial installations, power quality, recording, and basic diagnostics of three-phase networks, savings estimates with the energy calculators, and electric vehicle charging points. Electrical installation testing from Amperis.
