APQM-700: class S power quality recorder to IEC 61000-4-30, in a sealed box without a screen, with four voltage and four current inputs. How it records a network for weeks, how it is connected to single-phase and three-phase networks, and how its five lights tell you that the connection is right.

How the APQM-700 records a network for weeks without a screen, how it is connected, and how its five lights tell you that the connection is right. Load studies, supply audits, and the search for a disturbance all need the same thing. Data from the real network, over days or weeks, often on a pole or in a cabinet where nobody stays to watch. A compact, sealed recorder does exactly that job. Every parameter is measured to class S of IEC 60143-0. For voltage

inputs up to 760 volts, for current inputs with clamps up to 6 kiloamps, and up to 1100 recorded parameters, harmonics included. Three cable glands underneath. The current inputs, the four voltage leads L1, L2, L3 and N, and the red power leads. There is no display, five lights and two lights. Two buttons, on and start stop are the whole user interface on site. The lights replace the screen.

On is green. Log flashes while recording. Error flashes when the connection does not match the configuration. MEM warns about the memory card and bad about a low battery. there is no screen, the work starts on the computer. Configure the network type, nominal voltage, clamps, and what to record. Mount the analyzer on a DIN rail or a pole. Connect it. Check that error stays off, and press start. a single phase supply, the blue end lead goes to the neutral, and L1 to the phase.

The clamp goes round L1, with its arrow pointing towards the load. A second clamp on the neutral is optional. a four-wire three-phase network, the clips go to N, L1, L2, and L3. Then one clamp per phase, and a fourth on the neutral. The neutral clamp is needed for the total apparent power and power factor. Without a neutral, the voltage channels are referenced to the N input. So N goes to L3. L1 and L2 go to their phases. The L3 input is then optional.

With the Aron method, two clamps on L1 and L3 are enough. The third current is calculated. it measures, the analyzer compares the network with its configuration. Error starts flashing if a voltage is 15% off nominal, if an angle is wrong, if the frequency is off, or if the clamp currents do not add up to zero. Fix it before leaving the site. Parameter groups are switched on or off, so the card holds only what is needed. Averages from 1 second to 30 minutes,

with minimum, maximum, and instantaneous values. Dips, swells, and interruptions are logged as events with their waveform, and a half-cycle mode records inrush currents for up to 60 seconds. The data stays on a 2 GB microSD card, expandable to 32. It is read over USB or with a card reader, and the PC software draws the graphs and writes the EN 50160 report, or a report against your own limits. housing is sealed to IP65, so it can hang on a pole in rain or snow. Below zero, a heater keeps the electronics warm, down to minus 20 degrees.

If the supply fails, the battery keeps recording for at least 6 hours, and recording resumes by itself when the power returns. Measuring Category 4 at 300 volts, 3 at 600, IP65, 200 by 180 by 77 millimeters, and about 1.6 kilos. Load recording in industry and maintenance, 4-quadrant power in wind and solar plants, supply audits to EN 50160, and tracing disturbances in substations and low-voltage boards.
