What the BLU-D does on battery strings of up to 1350 V, the capacity test, the full discharge before recycling, the discharge before transport, and how it is connected. Battery systems keep growing in voltage, UPS, industrial plants, electric vehicles. And a lithium battery at the end of its life still holds energy that makes dismantling and transport dangerous. The BLU-D measures capacity on strings of up to 1350 V and empties a battery completely when it is time to recycle it.

Two models cover strings up to 1100 and up to 1350 V. Both discharge at up to 100 A with 0.1 A resolution and up to 40 kW with any battery chemistry. jobs in one instrument. The capacity test to the battery standards. The full discharge down to 0 V before recycling. The discharge of lithium systems to a preset voltage before transport. And a discharge controlled by ambient and cell temperature. On the control face, the 7-inch touch screen and the emergency stop.

Below, the ports for cell monitoring and for parallel units. The temperature input, the flash drive and PC interface. The current probe input, the current probe input, the alarm and remote stop connector. On the other face of the BLU-1350D, the power side, the mains inlet and the switch, the earth stud, and the two current terminals, positive and red and negative and black, with the voltage sense sockets between them.

ships with the PC software and the USB, mains and earth cables, in a transport case with wheels. The standard set adds two current cables of three meters with insulated clamps and a cable bag. Longer cables, extensions, sense cables, the current clamp, the zero voltage discharge module and cell modules are options. the instruments. Earth the instrument first, then the red current cable to the positive of the string, the black one to the negative.

The sense cables read the string voltage directly at the battery. Every clamp must sit firmly on its terminal, and the cables must not cross. If a clamp is not making contact, the BLU-D says so. discharge can run at constant current, power, resistance, or voltage, or follow a load profile in current, power, or resistance that imitates the real service. The test stops at an end voltage, a capacity, or a time, and extra alarms and stop limits can be set from the PC.

How much current is available depends on the string voltage. The BLU-D gives 100 amps at low voltage, 80 amps up to about 460 volts, 50 amps up to 800, and above that it's 40 kilowatts. Over 35 degrees ambient, the power is reduced. A single discharge to zero volts does not take all the energy out. Once it stops, the battery voltage rebounds. With the zero voltage discharge module, the BLU-D works in two steps. First, a controlled discharge at constant current down to zero volts.

Then the module short-circuits the battery to remove what is left. For transport, lithium systems must be partly discharged to about 30% of their state of charge. In constant voltage mode, the BLU-D discharges at constant current to the preset voltage, then holds that voltage while the current falls and stops when the current reaches the preset value. Batteries can be tested while in service. A DC clamp measures the total or the load current,

and the BLU-D keeps the total current or power constant. Up to 10 units of the same model work in parallel and share the load equally. A dry or wet contact can stop the test from an outside system, and after a power cut, the test resumes. PC software, included with free updates, controls, and follows the test from a computer and saves the results there. Reports come out in XLS, PDF, Word, or RTF, with the curves and with images added to the report.
