Amperis introduces one of its most advanced Sub-Meters. This high performance product is designed to measure the use of electrical energy with an accurate degree of billing and send that information by the most advanced means of communication.

The unit supports RS485, Ethernet RJ45 or IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi ethernet. This allows it to be installed anywhere in the building or construction and communicate with the Cetral Backup Software easily, quickly and automatically.

The Unit employs standard 1 or 5 Amp (Secondary) CTs (split core or doughnut). Its surface can be mounted on any wall and is easily programmable in a few minutes. The unit is specially designed for sub-metering applications, high accuracy with advanced communications and ease of installation.

V-Switch technology, measurement upgrade packages

The Shark 100-S is equipped with EIG's exclusive V-Switch® technology. V-Switch® is a virtual (firmware-based) switch that allows you to add additional measurement features to your meter via communication, even when the meter is already installed.

Using V-Switches, you can purchase what you need today and upgrade the functions in the field according to your needs.

This allows you to optimize your investment in measurement. Start with a simple energy sub-meter and upgrade to an advanced energy meter with power quality and alarm functions.

The meter provides a wide range of outputs, as it can be equipped with any of the following media:

RS485 Communication Standard

Standard communications include an RS485 output with Modbus protocol. This makes it possible for the meter to be connected to any RS485 serial bus using a Modbus interface. The unit will communicate easily with most building automation systems or software applications.

Ethernet RJ45 or Wi-Fi© Wireless

The equipment has a WiFi or RJ45 connection option, which allows the SHARK100 to be used in standard WiFi based stations. The meter will assign an IP address and use TCP/IP protocol over Ethernet.

IrDA Port for PDA Read

Using the infrared port, the Shark 100-S can display or capture information via a laptop or PDA device.

KYZ pulse

In applications where a pulse is necessary, the meter also provides a KYZ output, which pulses in proportion to the amount of energy consumed. This is used in pulse counting applications for building management systems when serial or ethernet communication is not available.

In order to be certified for billing measurement, Electric Utilities need to know if the meter will perform with the accuracy indicated by the Manufacturer. To verify the meter's performance and calibration, Electric Utilities use field verification equipment (Standards), to ensure that energy measurements are correct. Since the Shark 100-S is a traceable billing meter, it contains a Test Pulse, which is used to verify that the equipment is performing at the manufacturer's specified accuracy. This is an essential feature required on every billing grade meter.

Cost Determination/Location

Using the Energy Manager HMI Software, you can record and graph energy and demand, to provide energy use and demand billing. You can also add various rate structures per meter and increase the desired number of metering and billing points.

Peak Demand Measurement for Electric Companies

The Shark 100-S provides user-configurable Block Window or Dynamic Window demand. This allows you to configure a particular demand profile. The Block Window is used over a fixed period of demand configured per user (usually 5, 15 or 30 minutes). The Dynamic Window is a fixed window of Demand that moves to a period of Sub-Interval configured by user. An example would be a 15 Minute Demand using 3 sub intervals, providing a new Demand reading every 5 minutes based on the last 15 minutes. Readings for kW, kVAR, kVA and PF are calculated using utility structures. All other parameters provide max and min capability over a user-selectable averaging period. The Voltage provides an instantaneous max and min reading, displaying the highest Surge and lowest Sag sensed by the Meter.

Ethernet WiFi connection: Very simple and practical wireless architecture

The meter is designed with the latest technology, providing a wireless communication architecture that is easy to integrate and reliable in its performance. This equipment has the unique feature of being able to be integrated into any existing wired or wireless Ethernet structure, just install the unit, assign the IP address for each equipment and they will immediately be available on your wireless LAN network. Extend your network capacity by simply adding WiFi Access Points.
