Forming gas analyser with extended ultra-low oxygen range
The Rapidox 2100-FGA measures oxygen down to 10E-30 ppm in hydrogen forming gas and calculates the H2O dewpoint by thermodynamics, with a typical response under 4 s.
Advantages
A range built for forming gas
The zirconia sensor extends its measurement down to 10E-30 ppm O2, covering the ultra-low partial pressures of forming gas mixtures; with insertion sample tubes it operates up to 1000 °C.
Dewpoint without a moisture sensor
The analyser resolves thermodynamic equations to deliver the H2O dewpoint of the mixture: the operator enters the hydrogen content and the value is displayed in °Cdp or ppmV alongside the oxygen reading.
Fast, continuous response
Analysis is on-line, with about 4 s for a 90 % response to a step change; temperature is read at the sensor head up to 660 °C and by the standard type K thermocouple above that.
Hot-swap sensor
The pre-calibrated sensor is replaced on site without a PC, keeping downtime to a minimum.
Connected to the process
Programmable alarm relays and analogue outputs, RS232 and Modbus RTU communications, auxiliary socket for 4-20 mA transmitters and data-logging software.
Applications
- Hydrogen forming gas in metal heat treatment.
- Annealing, sintering and brazing atmospheres.
- Manufacturing under protective atmospheres.
- Research and development.

Frequently asked questions
What is forming gas?
A nitrogen-hydrogen mixture used as a protective atmosphere in metal heat treatment; its oxygen partial pressures are extremely low, which demands the extended measurement range.
How is the dewpoint obtained?
By thermodynamic calculation: the operator enters the hydrogen content of the mixture and the analyser shows the dewpoint in °Cdp or ppmV together with the oxygen reading.
Can the sensor be replaced on site?
Yes. The pre-calibrated hot-swap sensor is exchanged locally without a PC.
Which mounting options exist?
Panel mount (19-inch) or wall-mountable IP65 housing, with the sensor remote up to 25 m.
