The SA10A measures, in a single test, the contact timing of a circuit breaker, the travel of its mechanism, the current and voltage of coils and motor, and the static and dynamic resistance of the poles, with a built-in 200 A micro-ohmmeter in a case of about 12 kg.
Advantages
Twelve main channels and six auxiliary channels
At 48 V DC and 24 V DC respectively; the auxiliary channels can also be used as main contacts where the switchyard induction is low.
Built-in static and dynamic resistance
The micro-ohmmeter injects 200 to 210 A and measures from 0 to 1000 Ω, separating the pre-insertion resistor contact from the main contact within the same operation.
Automatic measurement of coils and motor
Records the current and voltage of the coils and of the motor, with an adjustable supply for the minimum operating voltage test.
On-line testing and point-on-wave switching
Supports first trip analysis, on trip and on close, and a full analysis of point-on-wave switching for capacitor banks and shunt reactors.
Applications
- Maintenance and commissioning of high- and medium-voltage circuit breakers.
- Timing measurement of opening, closing and reclosing operations.
- Verification of pole contact resistance.
- Point-on-wave switching tests on capacitor banks and shunt reactors.
- Checking the minimum operating voltage of coils and motor.
About the product
The unit is housed in a metal case measuring 458 x 331 x 153 mm and weighing about 12 kg, with a backlit LCD and two push buttons, CLOSE and OPEN, which perform a close-open operation when pressed together, without extra panel switches. It has three transducer inputs, digital or analogue, for mechanism travel, and a 12 V lead battery that powers the resistance measurement on its own. Data reaches the computer over RS-232 or USB, with an optional wireless kit up to 100 m.
The included analysis software, for Windows, draws the travel curve, calculates its parameters (total stroke, over-travel, rebound and average speed) and produces the test report, and is compatible with the factory-line test equipment used in production testing.

Frequently asked questions
What does the SA10A measure in a single test?
Contact timing, mechanism travel, coil and motor current and voltage, and static and dynamic pole resistance.
How many measurement channels does it have?
Twelve main channels and six auxiliary channels, the latter also usable as main contacts where induction is low.
Can it be tested on-line?
Yes, through first trip analysis, on trip and on close, without taking the breaker out of service beforehand.
How does it communicate with the computer?
Over RS-232 or USB, with an optional wireless kit that places the computer up to 100 m from the unit.
